Series C. Zionism/Founding of the State of Israel. 1942-1955. [2 Hollinger boxes]

Arrangement Note: This series is arranged alphabetically using original folder headings.

Scope and Content Note: Series C contains materials related to Friedman's early Zionist activities. Friedman's commitment to Zionism stemmed from his earliest days in rabbinical school at the Jewish Institute of Religion under the tutelage of Stephen S. Wise. Friedman was also recruited by David Ben-Gurion to help the Haganah in its efforts across Europe immediately following World War II. This series contains a number of Zionist publications together with correspondence with Abba Eban, Teddy Kollek, and Rudolf Sonneborn regarding the founding of the State of Israel. Finally, there is information regarding Friedman's involvement with the Haganah. However, this material is limited given the secretive nature of the group's operations.
