Series H. United Jewish Appeal. 1945-1995. [38 Hollinger boxes]

Scope and Content Note: Herbert A. Friedman's tenure as Executive Vice Chairman of the United Jewish Appeal was long and varied. He produced new and innovative techniques for fundraising and leadership development. The majority of this series focuses on fundraising initiatives, transcripts of speeches given on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal, records from national and international conferences, notes from fact-finding missions, and information on developmental programs such as the Young Leadership Cabinet that Friedman helped found. In addition, there is correspondence with Abba Eban, Teddy Kollek, Irving Bernstein, and Henry Slonimsky. Finally, there are several photographs of Friedman with notables such as Dwight D. Eisenhower, Abba Eban, David Ben-Gurion, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin, Moshe Dayan, Pope Paul VI and Pope John XXIII.
