Arrangement Note: This series is arranged into two (2) subseries: Subseries 1. General Files, 1949-2004; Subseries 2. Writings and Addresses, 1947-2003.

Scope and Content Note: Series I contains materials related to Friedman's work with the Wexner Heritage Foundation. This series spans the years 1947-2004, with the bulk of the material covering the years 1985-2003. In 1985, Friedman co-founded the Wexner Heritage Foundation with Columbus, Ohio, philanthropist Leslie Wexner. Friedman served as the foundation's president until his retirement. The Wexner Foundation's mission is centered on fostering a cadre of young Jewish leadership with a strong sense of allegiance to the State of Israel and Jewish identity throughout the diaspora. Of note in this series is correspondence with Ezer Weizman, Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, and Teddy Kollek. The series includes program and conference records, newsletters, working papers, and speeches and addresses by Friedman as well as photos with notable figures such as Yitzhak Rabin and Pope John Paul II.
