Arrangement Note: This series is arranged into two (2) subseries: Subseries 1. Documents, 1944-1990; and Subseries 2. Photographs, 1945-1947.

Scope and Content Note: Series A consists of documents and photographs pertaining to Friedman's service in World War II. Particularly significant are photographs and monthly chaplain's reports documenting, in 1945, the first Passover celebration in Berlin since Hitler's rise to power twelve years earlier. Series A also contains an interview with Friedman concerning his experiences in World War II. Finally, there is information on a displaced persons camp at Landsberg, Germany, for Jewish refugees.

Subseries 1. Documents. 1944-1990.

Scope and Content Note: Documents in this subseries relate to Friedman’s military service in World War II. Documents range from Friedman’s enlistment papers, to military reports Friedman authored during his service, to general correspondence regarding his military duties. The reports contain information on persons Friedman worked with and helped during his service, as well as data on other missions and projects. This series also includes reports and interviews Friedman gave after his service was completed.
